2023 Chevrolet Colorado Is More Rugged and Streamlined Pickup Truck

    July 29th 2022     Suhail Ajmal

The Chevrolet Colorado gets a more muscular appearance for the 2023 model. The midsize pickup truck will be accessible in five trim levels – Work Truck, LT, Z71, ZR2, and Trail Boss trims. Besides, the automaker offers the ZR2 Desert Boss package for those fancying hitting the sand dunes.

The new 2023 Colorado is built on a new chassis with a 3.1-inch longer wheelbase compared to the ongoing Crew Cab, short box layout. There will be only one body style and one bed length. Previously, the variant was also accessible in extended cab.

The front wheels now have traveled a little ahead, cutting the front overland and increasing approach angle. Those seeking even more clearance can go for the Trail Boss offering a two-inch suspension rise and a three-inch wider track in comparison to the WT and LT. The ZR2 also possesses a three-inch elevation and Multimatic DSSV dampers.

Here’s a table that would give you good idea of dimensions for different trim levels in the lineup.

Powertrain

Instead of four-, six-cylinder gasoline and a turbo diesel, there will be only one powerplant now. Yes, the 2.7-litre turbocharged four-cylinder is the sole engine option accessible in three power tunes. Chevy says they have installed firmer cylinder block casting, 30 per cent tougher crankshaft, and shaped bottom. The transmission will be eight-speed automatic for all the variants.

The 2.7-litre mill will deliver a power output between 237 horsepower and 310 hp. The below table gives complete information of the power and torque figures.

There is a drain to release liquid from this space, which is also available in other trims. Besides, the bed contains eight, standard fixed tie-downs and space for up to nine more. The grooves in the front area can hold motorcycle or bicycle tires. A 110-volt power outlet is another novelty in these midsize trucks.

Interior

The 2023 Chevy Colorado gets an 8.0-inch diagonal digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch diagonal infotainment display. Driver can select from Normal, Tow/Haul, Off-Road, Terrain, and Baja modes through a switch on the center console.

Safety

Chevrolet offers a long list of standard driver assistance features comprising forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with departure warning, following distance indicator and IntelliBeam automatic high-beam assist. The blind-zone steering assist, rear cross-traffic braking, adaptive cruise control, HD surround vision, and rear pedestrian alert are optional.

Off-road-oriented ZR2

The 2023 Colorado ZR2 is the most capable off-roader in the lineup and we can witness the ruggedness through the altered front and rear bumpers offering enhanced approach and departure angles, an aluminum skid plate safeguarding the radiator and engine oil pan, and front and rear electronic differentials. The ZR2 uses 17-inch wheels with 33-inch tires.

Apart from the exterior changes, the ZR2 has its own interior styling boasting Artemis gray with Strike yellow accents, standard heated front seats and an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s chair.

If that much off-roading capability isn’t enough, you can go for the Desert Boss package. It includes 17-inch Beadlock-capable wheels, a brush bar, a style bar on the bed, a roof-mounted light bar, an underbody camera, and special decals.

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado will hit the roads before summer next year. The company plans to develop it at its factory in Wentzville, Missouri.
