The glamorous modern day hundred-million-dollar events, like the Paris Motor Show 2016 have become the perfect unveiling platforms for concepts and production cars alike. In few cases the presented machines are very humble production cars like the Nissan Micra, while others are costly, custom-built, low-volume masterpieces that only a fraction of the world’s population can afford like the LaFerrari Aperta.
Here are our top five production cars of the Paris Motor Show 2016:
- Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta
Ferraris beloved hypercar goes topless! The convertible version of the LaFerrari has got the same 950-hp hybrid engine and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which helps run its rear wheels. The Aperta has got a petrol 6.3-litre V-12 engine that delivers 789 hp, and is assisted by a 161-hp electric motor that uses F1 power recovery and distribution strategies. This power enables it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 3 seconds and reach a top speed of over 220 mph.
- Land Rover Discovery 2018
One of the most talked about cars at the Paris Motor Show 2016, also makes our top 5.The new Land Rover Discovery has an all-aluminium Unibody cage, which has helped it shed over 1,000 pounds of weight. When properly equipped, it is still about 300 pounds lighter than the previous version. It has got the Land Rover’s 3.0-litre diesel V-6 engine, which can produce up to 254 horsepower and a solid 443 lb-ft of torque. With a price tag of £68,295 (around $87,074), it is an extremely well accomplished addition to progressively impressive range.
- Nissan Micra 2017
Whilst the current Micra was not very successful to say the least, the new model promises to offer a bolder design and sharper driving experience, with a new interior and advanced technology features. The Micra’s exterior design is deeply inspired by the Geneva Motor Show 2015’s Sway concept. It has a low, wide body which offers better aerodynamics with swept-back headlights. The range of colours available for Micra is extensive. Moreover, it is more spacious now. Nissan has also given the car a lower and sportier driving position, along with the placement of the adjustable seat, pedals and controls to improve the driving experience. In the start, it will be offered with two engine choices i.e. 0.9-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol Renault engine and 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine.
- Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster
Two versions of AMG GT Roadster were appeared at the Paris Motor Show 2016 with their mesmerizing looks. The incredible machine with a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V-8 pumping out 469 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque will shortly be on sale. The increase in power means that the AMG GT Roadster will be able to reach 62mph in four seconds flat and will go as fast as 196mph. The convertible has got exquisite exterior and interior styling. The official price for the Roadster is yet to be declared, but we expect the standard model to start at around £100,000 (around $127,470), whereas the GT C (fully equipped) is likely to break the £120,000 (around $152,959).
5. Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid
The last car in our top cars list at the Paris Motor Show 2016 is the new Panamera which Porsche claims can be used as both, a comfortable four-door sedan with modern day luxuries and a high-performance sports car on a track day. The All-Wheel Drive car has more or less the same technology used in the Porsche’s 918 Spyder supercar consisting electronic differentials and the electric motor, which constantly adds more power to the traditional, naturally aspirated engine. With a combined output of 462 hp, the Panamera 4 E-hybrid accelerates to 100 kph (62 mph) in a quick 4.6 seconds and could reach a top speed of 270 kph (168 mph), flat out.
