The German automaker has officially unveiled the long-awaited 2022 Audi e-Tron GT yesterday featuring exceptional looks and lots of power. As far as its appearance is concerned, we tend to agree with Audi’s head of design March Lichte. It is clearly one of the best looking cars in the market.
Based on the Porsche Taycan, the 2022 Audi e-Tron GT 198 inches long, 77 inches wide, and only 55 inches tall. Its measurement falls in the segment ruled by BMW 8-series and Tesla Model S.
As narrated earlier, the GT shares its architecture with the Taycan, so Audi’s offering has lots of things in common with its brethren. You will find standard all-wheel-drive Quattro, two-speed transmission and optional rear-wheel steering.
The 2022 Audi e-Tron GT features two electric motors collectively producing 469 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. With this power, the four-door gran Turismo can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and tops out at 152 mph. Engage the over-boost function and the power output increases to 522 hp with a 0-to-60 mph time of 2.5 seconds. Still not enough, how about the 637 hp RS e-Tron GT?
The two things we loved in Taycan and would find in the GT are aggressive regenerative braking available mostly though brake pedal and a battery management system that offers repeated sprints without cutting the performance.
Transferring power on the road are standard 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels. However, the e-Tron RS sports 20- or 21-inch aero five-spoke wheels.
To enhance the performance and add a touch of sportiness, Audi has installed an active rear spoiler to help the car achieve a 0.24 drag coefficient.
As far as the driving range is concerned, Audi says the e-Tron GT can deliver 238 miles (not EPA-approved) using a 93.0-kWh-gross battery pack. The company has also fitted an 800-volt electrical architecture for DC fast charging up to 270 kW. It enables the Grand Turismo to get 80 percent juice in less 23 minutes.
Get inside, and the first thing we notice is a 12.3-inch digital dash cluster and a single 10.1-inch infotainment system. The eight-way adjustable sport seats are standard, while the 18-way adjustable seats with a massage function are optional.
The 2022 Audi e-Tron GT will be available in three models, though we do not know the trim-specific features right now. The base Quattro Premium Plus will cost you $100,945, while the Quattro Prestige will wear a price tag of $108,145. The most powerful RS e-Tron GT starts at a whopping $140,945. Expect the 2022 Audi e-Tron GT to hit the roads this summer.
