The 2025 Ford Explorer prioritizes simplicity with refreshed exterior styling, cabin enhancements, increased standard features, and a streamlined trim selection. The interior sees notable changes, including a forward-shifted dashboard for expanded space, a raised 13.2-inch infotainment screen with a phone tray featuring wireless charging, and ribbed trim aiding hand placement.

The updated Explorer introduces Ford’s groundbreaking Digital Experience infotainment system, boasting fivefold processing power and 14 times the graphics prowess of its predecessor. Designed to seamlessly integrate customers’ preferred apps and services, it features Google Assistant as the primary voice assistant, with Alexa Built-In as an alternative option.

With access to the Google Play store, users can enjoy services like YouTube and Amazon Prime even while parked, along with web browsing through the Vivaldi browser or soon via Google Chrome. Ford’s BlueCruise technology enhances the driving experience, while continued support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay ensures versatile connectivity, including displaying maps on the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Ford refreshes the SUV’s exterior with updated facades and redesigned taillights, each trim boasting a distinctive grille. The entry-level Active sports a black mesh grille with chrome bars, while the Platinum flaunts a wing design in satin chrome. The ST-Line and ST feature honeycomb grilles with a mesh insert, while the ST distinguishes itself with a unique badge. Also debuting is the Vapor Blue Metallic exterior paint, available for the Active, ST-Line, and ST.

The Explorer lineup is streamlined to four trims: Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum, with a rugged version on the horizon. Standard features include heated front seats, a 10-way power driver’s seat, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eight USB ports (including two in the third row), three 12-volt ports, a power liftgate, Ford Co-Pilot 360, and LED headlights.

The Explorer retains its powertrain options. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, producing 300 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque, is standard in the Active, ST-Line, and Platinum trims. The 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6, generating 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque, is standard in the ST model and optional in the Platinum. All models feature a recalibrated 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive optional.

Today marks the debut of orders for the 2025 Explorer, priced at $41,220, including destination fees. Ford anticipates the SUV’s arrival at dealerships in the second quarter of 2024, slightly exceeding the starting price of the 2024 model, which was $38,485.
