2022 Volkswagen Lamando L Made Its Chinese Debut Featuring An Attractive Design

Following Ford’s Mondeo, Volkswagen has introduced a sleek liftback, Lamando, for the world’s biggest automotive market, China. It is actually Chinese-spec Jetta that SAIC-VW offers in the local market. For 2022, the Volkswagen Lamando has received some stylish upgrades and transformed into a liftback starting with the matrix LED headlights reminiscent of the ID. electric cars from the automaker.

Size

Speaking of similarities, Lamando L and Jetta share what the larger Passat and Arteon do. It is 4,784 millimeters (188 inches) long, 1,831 mm (72 in) wide, and 1,469 mm (57.8 in) tall. The sleek liftback styling makes it bigger than the Lamando three-box sedan with a longer wheelbase extending at 2,731 mm (107.5 in). Even with the bigger trace, it is smaller than the Arteon in all corners.

Platform & Suspension

Instead of the MQB platform, the VW uses for the standard Lamando sedan, this new liftback model employs the MQB Evo platform, the company unveiled in 2019 for the new Golf, Octavia, A3, Leon, and China’s Talagon utility vehicle. Furthermore, instead of a torsion beam rear suspension that the company uses mostly in Europe for low-level compacts, the new 2022 Lamando L has a standard multi-link suspension.

Exterior Design

The Lamando L features an attractive front fascia and sports up to 18 inches wheels as well as the new LED light bars on the front and the back. The VW emblem shines in white on the front and in red at the back, where the taillights seem to resemble the Peugeot 508. Generally, the Lamando L is one of the most stylish cars VW has ever produced.

Interior Design

Taking a peek inside, we find the dash styling resembles the Golf Mk8, though the central air vents and button layout look different. Besides, the liftback features a Beats sound system, head-up display, sunroof, shift-by-wire DSG switch, electric front seats, and adaptive cruise control. The rear passengers can benefit from dual air vents, a central armrest with two cupholders, and a pair of USB ports.

Powertrain

The powertrain includes a 1.4-litre TSI mill good for 150 hp and 250 Newton-meters (183 pound-feet) of torque, sending power to the front wheels using a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. Volkswagen says the 2022 VW Lamando L can accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in eight and a half seconds. It is not impressive but not that bad either. A more powerful 2.0 TSI should join the lineup later on.

In the meantime, VW-SAIC will start selling the Lamando L this spring. The Lamando sedan is already available at the dealerships.
