Kia introduced the 2021 Seltos in late 2019 and now the company has released details of the 2022 Seltos with some substantial changes as well as a new Nightfall Edition and new corporate badging. According to reports from Cars Direct, the 1.6-litre turbocharged Seltos S won’t be available for the 2022 model year.
Regarding the Nightfall Edition, it will start at $27,865 (including a $1,175 destination fee), and comes with some visual tweaks such as 18-inch matte black wheels, a black radiator grille, black roof rails, and black side sills. The Nightfall Edition will now be the most affordable variant in the lineup housing a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder mill, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Nevertheless, it is $1,100 costlier than the present S Turbo trim – each of these come with the same standard facilities.
The affordable compact crossover comes with Kia’s new badging, which is way more upscale compared to the old logo. The logo change comes with some upgrades in facilities as well. The standard driver safety assist features now include forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, driver attention warning, and lane-following assist.
The Nightfall Edition, EX AWD, and SX AWD also offer blind spot-collision avoidance and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist. Lastly, the SX AWD adds highway driving assist, forward collision avoidance assist with cyclist detection, and exit assist.
Kia has revealed the pricing information of the 2022 Seltos. The official launch date is still a mystery.
