After launching the facelift Patrol in September 2019, Nissan now has introduced the performance-oriented Patrol Nismo. The body-on-frame SUV comes equipped with an aggressive body kit to make it look different from the standard model.
It features huge 22-inch wheels and a tidy LED fog light similar to Formula 1 cars, lined by a rear diffuser and a couple of big exhaust tips. Making it further different from the regular model is a honeycomb front grille with a Nismo badge.
The power comes from the same naturally aspirated 5.6-liter V8 we find in standard Patrol generating 428 horsepower and 413 pound-feet (560 Newton-meters) of torque, mating to a seven-speed automatic transmission. However, the engine yields 28 hp extra than the standard V8 Patrol. The torque remains the same though. Furthermore, Nismo tweaked the suspension introducing a Bilstein setup for sharper cornering.
Inside, the Patrol Nismo has two touchscreens as available in the standard Patrol as well as red and black theme, carbon fiber accents, and Alcantara upholstery. In addition, it offers a 13-speaker Bose sound system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone capability, and a range of safety features. While all these are desirable features, the 2022 Nissan Patrol Nismo’s cabin does look outdated.
Nissan is also offering an eight-seater Patrol for the customers in the Middle East slotted above the entry-level 275-hp V6 and 400-hp V8 Patrol versions.
