The 2021 Infiniti QX55 is luxury automaker’s first crossover coupe, which will make its official online debut on November 11, 2020. While we say it is first, Infiniti insists it is their second offering in the “crossover coupe” segment, the first being the FX they introduced about two decades ago.
Whatever is the case, the QX55 is based on the QX50 crossover and will rival the big boys like the BMW X4 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe when it hit the roads later this year or in the start of next year. Not much, we know about the crossover coupe, so all we can do right now is good guessing.
Based on the QX50, we believe it will also borrow the engine from it. So, expect the 2.0L Turbo inline-four creating 268 horsepower (200 kilowatts) and 380 newton-meters of torque mated to a continuously variable transmission with a standard front-wheel-drive layout. The all-wheel drive could be optional.
However, if Infiniti has plans to make this offering land in the hot crossover segment, it may come with a standard all-wheel drive configuration. If this happens, it may offer a more powerful engine as well.
We are not sure if we would be able to see the 2021 Infiniti QX55 in person any time soon. It could debut at the 2020 Los Angeles Auto Show if that does not meet it destined faith as others did this year. Stay tuned for updates!
