The South Korean automaker has introduced the refreshed 2020 Kia Cadenza for North American markets at this year’s Chicago Motor Show with a number of improvements both inside and out. It is worth noting that this model debuted in South Korea in June 2019.
Seeing a drop in sales of Cadenza, the automaker decided to give it a new hood, grille, and updated daytime running lights on the front. However, the real magic in the exterior design happens at the back where we find a full-width strip on the trunk lid. Moreover, it gets a revised bumper as well as 18-inch alloys with an option of 19-inch for those who can pay extra.
While the exterior looks are more imposing now, it’s the interior that is benefited by fresh goodies. The driver gets a new 4.2-inch digital driver’s display in addition to a 12.3-inch infotainment display. The sedan now has three extra USB charging ports and an updated wireless charger. Those opting for Cadenza limited can even enjoy multi-color LED ambient lighting.
Unfortunately, nothing changed under the hood, but we are not complaining. The 3.3L V6 is already a capable mill producing 290 horsepower and 343 Newton-meters of torque. The power goes to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Kia has also upped the safety credentials of the 2020 Cadenza by introducing more standard facilities. Introducing the Kia Drive Wise featuring forward-collision warning, collision-avoidance assist, smart cruise control, and high-beam assist. Moreover, it offers Smart Wise, which improves the safety even further by introducing blind spot assist, lane-following assist, and highway driving assist.
The 2020 Kia Cadenza will go on sale probably this summer. The U.S. market will receive it in two variants only i.e. Technology and Limited. The pricing details are not known yet but we understand the 2019 Cadenza starts at AED 79,900 here in the UAE.
