The 2018 Audi A5 Sportback has been unveiled ahead of its debut at the 2016 Paris Auto Show. It is perfect for Audi fans who were demanding a blend of sedan and wagon.
Talking about the variation, there is hardly any difference between the regular coupe model and the A5 Sportback except the extra doors. It rides on the same Volkswagen Group’s MLB platform and boasts a 187.4 pounds lighter weight than the previous A5 model.
There are some other minor changes as well. For example, the trapezoidal suspension link has been replaced with a five link suspension setup in the 2018 Audi A5 Sportback. Moreover, in the previous models, the Audi’s Quattro Ultra all-wheel drive system couldn’t disconnect from rear wheels, but it is possible in the 2018 A5 Sportback.
Powertrain specifications have not been revealed yet, but we can expect it to carry a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-4 cylinder engine which produces 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. A more powerful turbocharged 3.0-litre V-6 good for 354 horsepower and 369 pounds-feet of torque will also be available in the S5 Sportback model. The A5 Sportback will be equipped with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission system, while the S5 Sportback will feature an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
On the inside, the cabin will be very much similar to the previous A5 model, but the automaker states that the interior space has been increased.
The 2018 Audi A5 Sportback will officially debut at the 2016 Paris Auto Show on September 29th.
